GADWAL - THE SACRED DRAPE
Nurtured in the small town of Gadwal in Andhra Pradesh. Gadwal Sarees demonstrate a blend of beauty and sacredness in its truest form, where the motifs inspired from marvelous south Indian scriptures and architectures out of which the well known are Murugan (peacock) and Rudrakshah.
It is believed that the weavers of Gadwal silk are the direct descendants of Jiveshwar Maharaj, who is known as the first weaver of Hindu gods and goddesses.
The most remarkable features of a Gadwal saree are its contrasting hues, temple border, admirable golden zari work along the borders' lengths giving it an exquisite touch with the well-crafted Kuttu border.
